SIBU: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) wants to know if Sibu will get to have a new hospital following the rationalisation of diesel subsidies in the country.

In particular, the party’s Dudong branch chairman Wong Ching Yong, wants to hear from the two local MPs on how they intend to ensure Sibu benefits from government savings resulting from the diesel move.

In making the call, Wong referred to Sibu MP Oscar Ling stating a few days ago that the restructuring of diesel subsidies has saved the government RM4 billion, which can be used to build 10 hospitals.

“In addition, I ask the two DAP (Democratic Action Party) MPs, Ling and Lanang MP Alice Lau, to explain whether they have any good news in the fight for the Sibu Cancer and Heart Centres? How is the progress?

“The people of Sibu are concerned about when the cancer and heart centres will be built,” he stated at the branch’s mobile service held at a cafe in Jalan Salim here Sunday (June 23).
