SIBU: Sarawak’s volleyball team made a strong start to their SUKMA campaign, sweeping aside Pahang in straight sets today (Aug 17).
The home team dominated the opening set, claiming a 25-19 win.
They continued their momentum in the second set, taking it comfortably at 25-17.
Sarawak then sealed the match with a decisive 25-16 victory in the third set.
Despite the win, Sarawak coach Pang Sii Chuong was not entirely pleased with his team’s performance.
“I’m not satisfied with our strategy, especially in the first set,” he said.
“The players were perhaps a bit tense as it was our first match.”
“Our players fought hard, and we improved our strategy after the second set. That made it easier for us to win the final two sets,” he added.
Looking ahead to their next match against Johor tomorrow at 4pm, Pang is optimistic about his team’s chances.
Sarawak will face Kedah on Aug 19 at 2pm.
