DARO: The Warisan Melanau group from Bintulu was the champion for the adult category in the recently concluded Daro Festival Bermukun Competition 2024, as they took home cash prize amounting to RM2,000.
In the same category, the runner-up went to Selempang Emas group from Kampung Baru Daro, inclusive cash prize of RM1,500.
Meanwhile, the second runner-up was held by Burung Helang group from Kampung Penipah, Daro bringing home cash prize of RM1,000.
The nine consolation prizes for all the participating groups also received RM200 cash respectively.
As for the children’s category, the Cenderawasih group from Kampung Tebaang emerged as the champion with a cash prize of RM500.
The second place went to Aryan Team from Kampung Itol, taking home RM400.
Meanwhile, the Sri Pangtray group from Kampung Pangtray was at third place, bringing home RM300 in cash prize.
The other five groups that participated in the competition also received a consolation prize of RM100 respectively.
Member of Parliament for Igan, Ahmad Johnie Zawawi and Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad presented the prizes to the winners.
