BINTULU: Faline Liong Jia Xien was adjudged the champion of the Recycle Runway Competition. Held in conjunction with the Miri Branch Sarawak State Library Customers’ Day (Pustaka Miri), it took place at Boulevard Shopping Mall here recently.
She went home with RM500 cash.
Aalona Eve Vallerie came second; she received RM400 cash.
Meanwhile, third place winner, Nicole Wong Xian, took home RM300 cash.
The prizes were presented by the regional manager of Pustaka Miri, Razak Rambili.
A total of six participants took part in the Recycle Runway Competition which aimed to raise awareness among the community about the importance of recycling in addition to responding to the Sarawak Premier’s challenge in environmental sustainability.
In his speech, Razak said Recycle Runway was a creativity competition for children aged 6 to 12 who aspired to create unique clothes from discarded materials.
The competition, he said, also encouraged children to hone their creativity while promoting environmental awareness.
