KUCHING: The Padawan Raft Safari 2017 ended yesterday after attracting 140 teams of local and international paddlers. Team Sa’Ati came out top in the Expert category after beating four other teams by clocking a time of four hours and 31 minutes.
It took home RM3000, a certificate and a trophy. Kampung Sunggun (Puncak Mutiara) came second with a time of four hours and 48 minutes while Perbiya settled for the third place after clocking a time of four hours and 54 minutes. Other categories were the Men’s and Women’s open, Government Agencies, Kayaking and Tourism Agencies.
For the Kayaking category, Eco Adventure Team retained its Champion title by clocking three hours and 57 minutes, followed by Unimas Junior B in the second place and Unimas Junior A in the third place. In the Men’s Open, Nibong Emas emerged champion after beating 16 other teams with a time of three hours and 28 minutes, while Kelab Rekreasi Lingga bagged the Women’s Open title.
Persatuan Bidayuh Braang Padawan conquered the Government Agencies category by clocking two hours and 4 minutes.
The two-day Padawan Raft Safari was held at Kampung Git in Padawan for the 12th consecutive year. It was organised by Padawan Municipal Counci l (MPP) in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
