MIRI: In hotly contested urban Sarawak, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component party of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) will try to win the hearts of voters via three sets of manifestos.

These three sets of manifestos are the umbrella state-level manifesto by GPS as the main set, followed by the SUPP manifesto and the contesting candidate manifesto of the particular constituency such as Miri.

“These three sets of manifestos are being printed in English, Malay and Mandarin.

“The GPS main manifesto talks about the GPS plans for Sarawak for this GE15 and beyond, what the state government under GPS aims to bring to Sarawak as we move forward towards greater social and economic progress.

“The SUPP party manifesto tells of what the party had done for Sarawak and its plans ahead for the next five years.

“The candidate manifesto in the particular seat will tell of what the party intends to do for that area, for example Miri.

“These three sets of manifestos form one united set that reinforces each other in GPS,” said a SUPP officer.

The preparations are underway now in the GPS-SUPP election operations centres to distribute these three-in-one manifestos to the voters.

SUPP is contesting in Miri, Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Serian, Sarikei, Lanang and Sibu.

It is facing tough battles against the DAP in Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Serian, Sarikei, Lanang and Sibu and the Parti Keadilan Rakyat in Miri.

SUPP candidates in Bandar Kuching, Stampin, Lanang, Sibu and Miri also faces challenge from the local opposition grouping of Parti Sarawak Bersatu-Parti Bumi Kenyalang.

In Miri, SUPP candidate Jeffery Phang is being supported by solid backing from the other GPS component grassroot leaders from Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party.
