SIBU: Police want witnesses to help in a case where an elderly person died after being run over by a lorry on Jalan Deshon last Thursday.
Sibu district police chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said that the accident happened around 5.25 pm.
The man, who was 77 years old, was riding a motorcycle.
“Before the accident, the man was travelling along Jalan Deshon,” Zulkipli said.
“He suddenly lost control, fell under the lorry, and was run over by the rear tire of the lorry,” he said today (August 11).
Zulkipli said that due to the accident, the victim sustained severe injuries to the body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987, which deals with reckless and dangerous driving causing death,” he said.
He has urged witnesses to get in touch with the traffic investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Salman Zulfitri Sheekandar, at 013-9999269.
