MIRI: A 59 year-old woman sustained head injuries after a car that she was travelling in collided with another vehicle.

This occurred yesterday afternoon nearby Simpang Jawa , in Batu Niah.

According to Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Miri acting chief senior fire Supt Ahmad Nizam Sapaiee, the injured victim was rushed to a nearby clinic by her family members for medical treatment immediately after the collision.

The accident scene was located at about 23 km from Batu Niah fire station.

Ahmad Nizam disclosed that one of the vehicles had burst into flames after the collision.

However, the number of passengers in the destroyed car was not immediately known, as none of them were seen at the scene when firemen arrived.

“We received a distressed emergency alert from a public member who informed us on the incident at 4.20pm,” he said.

The operation was completed at 5pm.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
