KUCHING: Police arrested an Indonesian woman and issued five compound notices to errant individuals for failing to comply with standard operating procedure (SOP) for Covid-19 in public places today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said three compounds were issued in Padawan and one each in Miri and Sarikei.

The Indonesian woman was arrested for not wearing a face mask in a public area.

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued 109 verbal, written and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On SOP compliance monitoring, enforcement teams inspected 1,465 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 268 restaurants, supermarkets (144), hawker stalls (34), banks (107), public markets (50), places of worship (46), leisure places (34), government offices (34), construction sites (21), factories (11), and others (716).

Meanwhile, a total of 1,914 vehicles were inspected at seven roadblocks in six districts – two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu under Ops Benteng.
