KUCHING: A 37-year-old woman was fined RM10,000 in default four months in jail by the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday (June 14) for illegal online gambling activities.
Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali meted out the sentence on Nurima Mohamad after she pleaded guilty under Section 4(B)(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 which carries a fine of not less than RM10,000 and not more than RM100,000 for each confiscated gambling machine, or imprisonment not exceeding five years.
The accused, who hails from Kampung Bintawa Hilir, was charged with committing the offence at 11.40am in front of a house in Kampung Pulo Hilir, Petra Jaya here on June 6.
Also seized were a Vivo 1901 mobile phone and cash amounting to RM100.
