MIRI: A 68-year-old woman was found dead inside the bathroom of her home at Taman Delight here on Friday, while her paralysed husband was inside one of their rooms.

The couple’s neighbours alerted the Miri Fire Station for assistance to unlock their door after the elderly couple failed to respond to their calls.

According to sources, the neighbours had not seen the couple for the past three days.

Miri Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said one fire engine carrying six firemen and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) personnel were dispatched to the scene after responding to the emergency call at 6.06pm.

After unlocking the main door, the firemen found lifeless body of the woman, identified as Lai Lin Mui, lying on the toilet bowl, while the husband was on the floor of one of the rooms.

The body was taken to Miri Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) head SAC Denis Leong Soon Kua, confirmed that they have received the report of the discovery.

“The incident has been classified as sudden death,” he said.
