MIRI: A woman thought she could have a peaceful afternoon gathering vegetables by the bush but it turned out to be a heart-pounding encounter when she unexpectedly came face to face with a python at Jalan Bulatan Krokop here yesterday.
She quickly called her neighbour out to summon the Civil Defence Force (APM).
APM received a call at 12.32 pm yesterday and a four-member team was despatched to the scene which was near the Shell petrol station.
On arrival, the 23-year-old complainant guided the team to the spot where the python had sought its temporary haven.
The reticulated python, measuring four meters in length, was detected by the fence at the back of a house.
It only took a while for the team to contain the reptile that resembled the girth of an adult’s calf.
The python was then released back into its natural habitat, away from the residential area. The operation ended at 1.24 pm.
