KUCHING: A woman thought she could make some extra money fast by selling illegal 4D lottery.

However, her activity came to an abrupt halt when police, acting on a tip-off, raided her shop in Bau town and detained her at noon on Wednesday.

Police seized cash of RM59, some stationery and a white paper with some lottery numbers scribbled on it.

Bau police chief DSP Poge Nyaon confirmed the case and said the 45-year-old woman from Jalan Pekan Buso, Bau was brought to the Bau police station for questioning.

She will be charged under Section 4A (a) of the Gaming Act 1953 and can be fined up to RM200,000 or face a jail term of up to five years if convicted.
