KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a local woman to three months in prison for breaking into and stealing properties from a house in Kampung Siol Kandis three months ago.
Zalikha Suria, 34, pleaded guilty to three charges before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.
For the first and second charges, Zalikha and her 18-year-old male accomplice were charged under Section 414 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, with disposing of two metal gates and two lamps belonging to a 48-year-old man.
She and her accomplice were also charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code, with trespassing into the complainant’s house around 8pm on May 20.
Zubaidah sentenced Zalikha to three months in prison for each of the charges and ordered her to serve the sentences concurrently starting Tuesday (July 16).
Meanwhile, her accomplice was released on RM1,000 bail with a local surety while awaiting a social report from the Social Welfare Department.
According to the case facts, the complainant realised that his house had been broken into and several items had gone missing.
The items include the front door, a door grill, a car porch roof, a back kitchen door, two bathroom doors, eight window frames, two iron gates, two spandex gates, three lamps, a fuse box, and several ceiling structures. The estimated losses suffered is around RM3,000.
On July 10, police arrested Zalikha and her accomplice after they were apprehended by the public on suspicion of stealing the items.
Both of them admitted to stealing from the complainant’s house and led the police to where the stolen items were sold.
