MIRI: A woman who was locked inside a room of their house at Taman Tunku here on Saturday night was rescued by firemen just 20 minutes after she dialled the emergency line 999.
According to sources, the 29-year-old woman was accidentally locked inside the room while she was preparing to go to work at a fuel station in Riam that night, but the room door unexpectedly closed and she was locked inside with no help in sight.
Sources added that the woman was alone in the house as all her family members were still in their village.
“However, the woman was fortunate as she has her handphone with her which she used to call the emergency line 999 for help,” said Miri fire zone chief, Supt Law Poh Kiong.
The room where she was locked was located on the upper floor of the double storey house.
Eight firemen from Miri fire station led by PBKII Abang Muhammad Fhazil Abang Abdul Manaf were immediately dispatched to the scene following a distress call received at 10.57pm.
