KUCHING: A 61-year-old woman was killed in a road accident along Jalan Lundu-Sematan, near the Biawak junction.

Lundu district police chief DSP Damataries Lautin reported that the victim’s husband was seriously injured in the accident.

“It is believed that at the time of the incident, the victim and her husband were on a motorcycle travelling from Biawak towards Lundu. Their motorcycle exited the Biawak junction and entered the right lane without stopping, leading them to be hit by a 4WD vehicle travelling straight on the main road,” he said in a statement today.

Damataries also said that the husband sustained injuries to his leg, hand, and head. His wife, who was the pillion rider, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the 4WD vehicle was unharmed.

The body of the deceased has been sent to Lundu Hospital for post-mortem.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
