LIMBANG: A woman was made RM2,120 poorer after falling victim to an online scam, involving the sale of 56 novels recently.

Limbang District Police chief, Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the victim had ordered 16 books and 40 novels from the suspect and deposited a total RM2,120 into the latter’s account.

He said the first deposit amounting to RM350 was made in 2016 while the second deposit (RM1,800) was made in January this year.

“After the victim deposited the money into the suspect’s account, she was unable to contact him. She has not received the books and novels either,” he said.

Mohd Bukhori said police were investigating the case under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
