SIBU: A local woman was safely rescued after she fainted during cross-country activities in a forest along Jalan Kemuyang on Monday.

Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said firefighters from Sungai Merah station were dispatched after receiving an emergency call at 9.57am.

Upon arrival, the team entered the forest to locate the 23-year-old victim.

At 10.25 am, the team found the woman, in a state of fatigue, at about 700 metres from the main road.

The team administered on-site treatment to the victim before assisting her out of the forest.

Once the woman was brought out of the forest, she was handed over to paramedics for further action.
