BINTULU: A woman broke her right leg after she lost her footing and fell to the ground in front of an eatery near Bintulu Riverfront yesterday morning.

It was said that the victim fell to the ground after she stepped on a small piece of metal.

According to the victim’s husband, they were in town to purchase some daily essentials.

“We wanted to go to the market (Pasar Tamu Bintulu) to buy some vegetables and some other things and when we reached there, she (victim) fell to the ground and somehow broke her leg after stepping on that small piece of metal,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to a witness, he was shocked to see a woman groaning in pain after falling to the ground.

“At the time of the incident I was having a drink with a friend at a nearby coffee shop. I believe that she had broken one of her legs as I heard a cracking sound like somebody had stepped on a bamboo,” he said.

An ambulance was called to the scene and the victim was briefly attended before being taken to Bintulu Hospital for further treatment.

The victim is being carried to the waiting ambulance.
