KUCHING: A woman was seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident at Jalan Batu Kawa, in front of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Chung Hua Stapok on Monday (Oct 5).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre received an emergency call on the incident at 6.17am and deployed a team of firefighters from Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station to the scene.

Upon arrival, the firefighters found three damaged vehicles —Satria, Kelisa and Kancil — on the road, and the driver of the Kancil, who was trapped in her seat.

The Kelisa car sustained damages to its front part.

It was believed that the Satria car went out of control and crashed into the other two vehicles.

Members of the public who witnessed the accident immediately rushed to the scene to help the trapped victim, and handed her over to the firefighters to stabilise her condition.

Apart from that, five other victims consisting drivers of the other two vehicles and passengers were also rescued.

All six victims were rushed to hospital for further treatment.
