SIBU: A woman injured her hands and legs when she jumped from the first floor of her rented room in a building at Jalan Tan Sri in an attempt to escape from a man who had raped her.

In the 8am incident yesterday, the 25-year-old woman who is a hotel worker, was raped by a man who was once her neighbour.

After the rape, she struggled free and jumped down from the building.

A team of civil defence force personnel, upon being informed by the police, brought an ambulance to the place at 8.11am and gave first-aid treatment to the woman before taking her to hospital.

The woman’s clothes were torn and there were injury marks on her face, believed to have been inflicted during the rape.

Sibu OCPD, Assistant Commissioner Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the case when contacted.

He said a 22-year old unemployed man had been arrested three hours later at another place in connection with the alleged rape.
