KUALA LUMPUR: The agenda of women’s empowerment, and the involvement of at least 30 per cent of women in decision-making groups at every level, are among those contained in a resolution, called Tekad Wanita Perpaduan, signed in conjunction with the Unity Government National Women’s Convention yesterday.
The resolution was signed by five heads of the women’s wing in the various parties which make up the Unity Government, a symbol of commitment to bring and support the theme, MADANI: Mengangkat Agenda Rakyat.
It was signed by Barisan Nasional (BN) Wanita chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad; Pakatan Harapan (PH) Wanita chief Aiman Athirah Sabu; Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Women’s chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Gabungan Rakyat Sabah
(GRS) representative Datuk Flovia Ng and Parti Warisan acting Women’s chief, Norfaizah Chua.
The resolution, among others, is to ensure that women receive protection from aspects of welfare, education, security, social and human rights; uphold the Federal Constitution and be the main driver in the development of the MADANI community.
Earlier, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, who is also the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women vice-chief, led the recitation of the resolution.
The Unity Government National Women’s Convention, attended by 3,400 participants from various parties, is part of the agenda of the one-day Unity Government National Convention, held yesterday. – BERNAMA
