KUCHING: Sarawak Federation of Women’s Institute (SFWI) yesterday launched a recipe book on fritters as part of its programme to commemorate its 55th anniversary this year.

SFWI chairperson Datuk Norhyati Mohd Ismail revealed in her speech during the officiating ceremony of Bazaaria@PPWS that the new recipe book comprised various fritter recipes that had survived the test of time as well as new ideas on creating innovative recipes.

“All the recipes in the book have been selected through the Assorted Fritters Competition that we organised and participated by our SFWI members from all across the state,” she told the audience at Mydin Petra Jaya here yesterday.

“Five SFWI regions held the competition back in 2017. They were SFWI Kuching/Samarahan, SFWI Sri Aman, SFWI Sibu/Sarikei/Kapit, SFWI Miri/Bintulu and SFWI Limbang/Lawas,” she added.

On the Bazaaria@PPWS launch, Norhyati pointed out one of the main reasons of organising the programme was to promote the products of SFWI entrepreneurs to the public in view of the forthcoming fasting month.

“It is also to improve the economy of the members through proceeds from sales and promote activities that can bring families closer.

“Some of the agencies that took part in today’s programme include Sarawak Economic Development Council (SEDC), Permodalan Usahawan Nasional Berhad, SME Corporation and Tekun,” she added.

Norhyati hoped that with the participation of the agencies in the programme, SFWI entrepreneurs and the general public would be aware of the agencies’ functions as well as the support programmes they provided.

Bazaaria@PPWS featured 21 booths selling various types of products such as dried food, cakes, apparels and scarves.

Health massages, handicrafts, sewing services, used items, beauty products, books and magazines were also available.

The Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang officiated at the opening ceremony and book launch.

Also present were SFWI advisor Datuk Rugayah Abdul Majid, honorary treasurer of the Association of Wives of State Ministers, Assistant Ministers and State Assemblymen (Sabati) Datin Siti Shorgayah Mohd Zaidin and SFWI Limbang/Lawas exco representative Aishah Edris.
