Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah (3rd left) presents a mock cheque of RM5,000 to Wong Neng Lee (3rd right), the first prize winner, while Group of CEO of Saradise Sdn Bhd, Dato Chris Chung (2nd right) and others look on.

KUCHING: ‘Kuching For Me’ is an event that makes Kuching alive, said Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in his speech during the prize presentation ceremony for the ‘Kuching For Me Design Contest 2017’ at Saradise Gallery, Titanium Tower here on Saturday night.

He added that it was good to see developers having this kind of event where they have the passion for art.

He believed that they will incorporate arts into their design and the way the building is being planned.

“It is indeed very encouraging to see because we do not want to see Kuching developing into a concrete jungle but we want to see Kuching as a city with a soul.

“Not only developers have this passion but we want to see everybody irrespective of whether they are architects, engineers or teachers to have this kind of passion to see Kuching developing into something alive,” he said.

“For this second edition, we will curate those new creative ideas from some of our contestants into our township,” he pointed out.
