SIBU: A wood factory and a firecrackers’ store at Jalan Ting Lik Kong here were destroyed in a fire on Friday night. State Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) operation centre (PGO) received an emergency call relating to the fire at 10.32pm and upon arrival at the location, the wood factory was about 60 per cent burnt and fire was spreading to an adjoining firecrackers store due to strong wind.
Eight firefighters from the Sungai Merah Fire and Rescue Station (BOMBA) led by PBB II Joseph Balon and eight from Sibu BOMBA headed by PBK II Uusif Tar were involved in the operation.
