KUCHING: A local man narrowly escaped injury when his wooden house collapsed at Lorong Teruntum 2, Kampung Semariang Batu yesterday (Mar 10).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Petra Jaya station rushed to the scene following a distress call at 4.30 pm.

Upon arrival, they discovered the house partially submerged in rising tide. Fortunately, no one was trapped inside.

The homeowner, 42-year-old Saharulnizan Abang Jali, managed to evacuate the premises in time.

The team cautioned Saharulnizan against re-entering the structure due to safety concerns.

Saharulnizan will temporarily lodge at a relative’s house while awaiting assistance.

The cause of the collapse is not known.
