KUCHING: The Sarawak Scout Council members and commissioners are called to work in sync when implementing various programmes for the youth.

In stating this, its president Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom said that such programmes will help in preparing the youth to play positive roles and be able to shape themselves to be the future leaders for themselves and their peers.

“I would also like to urge both the council members and commissioners to strive hard to make the scout movement the preferred platform by the young people to inculcate good discipline, obedience, respect, esprit de corps or team work in themselves,” he said.

He said this during the council’s annual meeting held today (Dec 3).

Adding on, he pointed out that in realising these attitudes within the youth, scouting can be a good start for the youth.

“With that in mind, I, myself have taken the step to initiate the introduction of community-based scouting in my constituency following the suggestion which I picked up from the Acting National Chief recently,” he disclosed.
