KUCHING: The Kuching North City Council (DBKU) staff joined villagers at Kampung Bintangor Besar here in a gotong-royong yesterday to rid the village of aedes mosquitoes breeding places.

The work party was led by Chief Minister’s political secretary Abdul Samat Gany who urged the villagers to work together to ensure their village was free from dengue.

Among those in the work party was Kuching District officer Yusup Mostapha. They cleared the village compound of rubbish piles, plastic waste and stagnant water which are potential breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.

The programme was organised by DBKU in collaboration with the Sarawak Health Department and the villagers of Kampung Bintangor Besar, Kampung Bintangor Kecil and nearby Kampung Masjid.

Abdul Samat reminded the villagers to be always mindful of the threat posed by dengue. As such they should keep their surroundings clean and free of potential mosquito breeding grounds.
