SIBU: A workers’ hostel was reduced to ashes when a fire broke out at midnight at Jalan Seduan.
Commanding officer Shairulnizam Wailiei said the Fire and Rescue Department received a report of the incident at 12.39am.
Subsequently, 13 officers and personnel from the Sungai Merah and Sibu fire stations were deployed to the scene.
When they reached the scene, the fire was at its height.
Shairulnizam added that the six-door hostel was fully destroyed in the fire.
The operation ended at 1.32am. The cause of the fire and losses have not been determined yet.
