MUKAH: A workers temporary housing block at Golden Star Ace Sdn Bhd, Balingian here was completely destroyed in a fire at midnight on Saturday.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre, five Mukah Bomba personnel, led by PBK II Abu Hady, were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call on the incident.

“When we arrived at the scene, we found one of the blocks with 12 doors totally destroyed by the fire.

“We also found that one of the occupants of the house, Henry Sigar, suffered injuries to his arm and body while trying to extinguish the fire and he was then immediately send to hospital by members of the public for further treatment,” it said in the statement.

Bomba finally put the fire out at around 2.30am.

Mukah district police chief Deputy Superintendent Jimmy Panyau said no casualties were reported.

“Initial investigations have revealed that there was no criminal act or intentional act, and the reports have been referred to Bomba for further investigation,” he said.
