BINTULU: All parties need to work together to eradicate and combat drug abuse down to the grassroots level, said Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

The Jepak assemblyman also asked community leaders to immediately report to the relevant authorities if there are those who misuse illicit substances in their respective villages.

“I will continue to cooperate with government agencies, especially the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), to implement effective drug prevention programmes,” he said.

Talib hopes that there will be more activities and programmes organised to reach out to the youth and to convey the message to them about the dangers of drug abuse.

He said this while officiating at the Bintulu District Community Empowerment 2021 Programme at the Parkcity Everly Hotel, yesterday (Oct 2).

The programme is organised by AADK Bintulu District in collaboration with Bintulu District Office under the Bintulu One Stop Committee (OSC).

The programme aims to educate community leaders on the current drug trends and threats.

It also aims to come up with strategies and prepare action plans according to the needs and current trends of drug abuse in their respective areas.
