KAPIT: Works Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi has allocated RM1.26 million in funding from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to support eight mission schools in his constituency.
In a Facebook post, he stated that this contribution is aimed at enhancing educational facilities and resources within the region.
He noted that the grant will be used for the construction of new buildings, upgrading existing structures, and acquiring new furniture, information technology equipment, and sports facilities.
“I hope that this support from Unifor will further promote the development of students in these schools and contribute to Sarawak’s vision of becoming a progressive and prosperous state by 2030,” he said.
In addition to the school grants, Nanta, who also serves as the Kapit MP, presented a separate donation of RM434,000 to 39 recipients, including representatives from various non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community associations, village development committees, Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and clubs.
“This contribution is intended to benefit all recipients and support their various initiatives,” he added.
He stressed the Sarawak government’s commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for students, regardless of their background or religion.
Through Unifor, Nanta noted that RM20 million has been allocated this year to support 120 mission schools across Sarawak.
