KUCHING: The Works Ministry (KKR) will continue to address several issues raised by the community nationwide.

Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said in a Facebook posting recently that as of the third week of the month, six initiatives were implemented.

The initiatives included the reduction of the speed limit on federal roads nationwide from 90 km/h to 80 km/h from Jan 18 to 27, and the launch of the Integrated Ops and Road Safety Campaign.

At the same time, all highway users also enjoyed free tolls for two days on Jan 20 and 21 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration.

Nanta also held a meeting between Touch ‘N Go Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan Berhad (PLUS) and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to resolve the issue of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) congestion and plans were afoot to add 12 RFID lanes by mid April, this year.

At the same time, a total of RM232 million had been set aside to carry out repairs on infrastructural damage in Malaya due to the recent floods.
