THE construction of the RM15 million Sarawak Government Administrative Centre for the district of Daro is expected to begin by the end of 2025.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat said the project is currently in the process of land application and design, with a 24-month timeline for completion.
He explained that the construction of the complex in Daro is part of the Service Quarters and Government Office Buildings Construction Project, which was approved under the Mid-Term Review of the 12th Malaysia Plan (MP12).
“The proposed Sarawak Government Administration Centre in Daro will house various government departments and agencies to facilitate better service delivery to the public,” he said.
He said this in response to a question raised by Safiee Ahmad (GPS-Daro) during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today. Safiee had asked about the current status of the proposed complex.
Jefferson added that the project will include an Integrated Administrative Centre Building, along with external and associated works.
Additionally, the new Sarawak Government Administration Centre in Daro is set to accommodate several key departments and agencies, including the Daro District Office, Bumiputera Court, Community Leaders Room, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Agriculture Sarawak, Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, Irrigation and Drainage Department, Rural Water Supply Department, Department of Islamic Affairs, federal government offices, and a childcare centre (TASKA).
