KUCHING: With piling work for the Mile 4 ½ Interchange now fully completed, the project team is moving on to do beam launching for this seven-span structure.
LBU project manager for Sematan to Sungai Moyan (Works Package 02) Dahlim Mungkil said so far beams had been launched for three out of the seven spans.
“We are targeting to launch the beams for the rest of the spans end of this year.
“All seven pile caps have been completed and currently, we are concentrating on the construction of the last two cross-heads and abutments.
“We are proceeding to do the diaphragm beams, deck slabbing and eventually the parapet wall,” said Dahlim.
Given the current progress, the project team is confident that the 250-metre long flyover will be structurally completed by April next year.
“However, the flyover can only be opened to traffic three months later in July when it is fully completed with all signage and accessories done,” added Dahlim.
The interchange is one of the four interchanges under Works Package 02. The other three are Mile 6, Mile 7 and Mile 10 along the Kuching Serian Road (KSR).
The four interchanges along busy KSR are aimed at smoothening and shortening the journey along the Pan Borneo Highway once completed by middle of 2021.
Samling Resources Sdn Bhd is the main contractor for this package which has the longest stretch at 95.043km and divided into three sections i.e. Lundu Section, Bau Section and KSR Interchanges.
