KUCHING: The displacement works of the main water pipes at Mile 10 Kuching-Serian Road that began on Aug 29 was expected to affect the entire Siburan and Asajaya area.
The pipeline displacement works which were completed at 9.30am yesterday, however, did not seem to disrupt supply as thought earlier.
No water supply interruptions were reported right until the displacement works were successfully carried out, said Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) in a statement yesterday.
It added that the project was carried out by Lebuhraya Pan Borneo under the supervision of JBALB and Kuching Water Board.
JBALB had earlier issued a notice of the water supply disruptions in Kuching and Samarahan divisions on the same day to inform residents of the affected areas during the displacement works.
The department also took the opportunity to thank those involved in ensuring the repair works were completed without affecting normal supply.
JBALB went on to advise consumers to use water prudently and store enough water for usage as disruption could occur any time due to ongoing works on the Pan Borneo Highway.
