KUCHING: The continuation of Phase 3 of the Advancing Racial Cohesion and Harmony (ARCH) Unity Workshop will be held this week.
According to its statement, the said workshop will be the eighth one organised by the Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS).
Thus far, similar workshops have been held at nine locations — Southern Region (Kuching, Kota Samarahan, and Bau), the Central Region (Sibu, Bintulu, Kapit, and Mukah), and the Northern Region (Miri and Limbang).
“The workshop this week will be held on Thursday (July 28) at Pullman Hotel Kuching and for each seminar, there will be 30 to 40 participants,” YPS said.
It is aimed at gaining insights into the prevailing challenges in building positive interracial relations.
The participants will be able to evaluate strategies for building and maintaining unity in Malaysia while understanding the concept of national unity in the context of Sarawak.
“One of the highlights of this workshop is a crash course on the National Unity Blueprint during which we will gather opinions from the participants.
“We will also have an interactive session with the participants based on five critical dimensions such as racial relations, shared history, national identity, equality and equity, and institutional integrity,” it said.
With this, YPS hoped that the participants would be able to further enhance the unity and social cohesion in Sarawak through the implantation of the National Unity Blueprint 2021-2030.
“On the YPS’ side, this workshop allows us to understand and identify the needs and issues related to unity and social cohesion in Sarawak through interaction and engagement,” it said.
The ARCH programme was first organised in 2021 targetting government officers, community leaders, representatives of youth associations, members of non-government organisations, and the public.
The programme was executed in three phases that focused on key activities such as webinars, focus groups, and unity lab/workshops.
