KUCHING: Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi launched the World Quran Hour 2023 at Darul Hana Mosque here on Thursday (April 13).

Themed ‘Humanising the Ummah’, the event was a joint effort between the Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and Rumah Ngaji Sarawak.

It aimed to enhance solidarity between Malaysia and the whole world by engaging the wisdom from the Quran.

Dr Abdul Rahman stressed that Quran reading should be practised by all Muslims in order to master the knowledge needed to worship correctly.

“Without sufficient knowledge, there is a high possibility that the worship we perform does not meet the requirements and deviates from the actual Islamic Sharia,” he explained.

He added that Surah Al-Insan, which means ‘human’, was chosen from the Quran alongside the agenda to humanise the homes, workplaces, and nations.

“There are two important things that need to be adjusted in every human being, the first is the mindset that humans are servants of Allah S.W.T.

“Once this frame of mind has been adjusted, it is necessary for people to establish their own operating system based on the Al-Quran.”

Among the programmes were the recitation of Surah Al-Insan by Sarawak mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin, recitation of Surah Al-Insan by Hadi Mohd Sharkawi and performance of Nasyid and Qasidah.

Also present was Pustaka Negeri Sarawak chief executive officer Japri Bujang.
