MIRI: More than 200 people took part in the World Quran Hour 2023 here recently.

This year’s event was held on April 13 and it was a programme that encouraged reading, understanding and instilling the teachings of the Quran.

The programme here was organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri together with the Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board (Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Melayu Miri – LAKMM) and the management of Surau Al Hidayah Tab Cinaq.

This year’s theme was Humanising the Ummah with Surah Al-Insan as the chosen Al-Quran chapter.

The event was held at Surau Al Hidayah Tab Cinaq, Pujut 5 and was officiated by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak board of management vice-chairperson Datu Dr Rashidah Bolhassan and also attended by LAKMM manager Ramlah Ahat.

The participants were from government bodies, private agencies, students, organisations and mosque groups around the city.

Also held was the handover of reading materials collected via the BookShare initiative by the Malaysia Librarians Association, Sarawak Chapter to the surau’s Resource Centre.
