This MoU, which took place at TEGAS Digital Village on Thursday (Oct 10), marked the collaboration between WormingUp and seven other key partners to manage waste produced in Sarawak, reducing organic waste buildup.

The companies collaborating with WormingUp are Bioloop, Masranti, Siang Heng (Sarawak), Hilton Kuching Hotel, Formeta PLT, Harbin Venture Cultural Development from China, and Monster Biotech from Taiwan.

These companies will work with WormingUp not only to supply waste for organic disposal, thereby avoiding the filling of landfills, but also to produce sustainable animal feed, empower communities, and educate society about waste management.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian praised WormingUp’s efforts to dispose of waste organically and partner with various industrial companies to achieve their goals.

“We have a lot of organic waste, and what we do is fill the landfills with it, which causes all sorts of pollution.

“It also costs a lot of money to get rid of waste, so we try to separate it out; companies like WormingUp are very important for turning waste into something more meaningful.

“There are seven partners collaborating with WormingUp in this matter, which is crucial for achieving this goal,” Dr Sim said in his speech during the ceremony.

WormingUp was established in 2015 with the aim of using black soldier flies to organically dispose of waste and prevent landfills from becoming overwhelmed, which could lead to various pollution issues.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang and WormingUp managing director Jeff Wee Hung Yee, alongside representatives from key partners.
