KUCHING: More multiracial activities and competitions should be held in Sarawak to highlight the state’s harmony and unity, said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.
Yap stated that he had always been telling all associations that had been organising events or competitions to emphasise harmony and unity so that it would encourage as many individuals as possible to participate.
“Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg mentioned that Sarawak is unique, so we must preserve the uniqueness of our Sarawak, where people from all walks of life, regardless of race, may come together,” he said.
He encouraged the tournament to be properly organised, specifically for the benefit of the youth and people from all walks of life, encouraging them to participate in healthier activities while also building unity among the people.
Yap said this today at the Kota Sentosa Service Centre during the handing over ceremony of a cheque worth RM6250 to Darul Barakah Ping Pong Club (KPDBK) to organise their tournament, which will be held on March 4 and 5, 2023 at Dewan Serbaguna Kg Stutong, Kuching.
The Yap Yau Sin Cup, N.12 Kota Sentosa Assemblyman Open Ping Pong Tournament is a first of its kind, organised by KPDBK and aims to discover new talents among the participants who will represent Sarawak in the inter-division ping pong tournament while also encouraging healthy competition, sportsmanship, and goodwill among the participants.
