KUCHING: Three more Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary Schools (YSISS) are planned for Sibu, Miri, and Bintulu within the next five years.

Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn shared that currently, there are two operational YSISS campuses in Sarawak: one in Petra Jaya, Kuching since 2022, and another that welcomed its first Year 7 (Form 1) students in April 2024 in Semenggok Batu 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian.

“I encourage students in Primary 5 and especially Primary 6 to aim high and consider enrolling in these prestigious state-owned international schools, which are conveniently located nearby.

“Parents, teachers, and students, please take this opportunity to inquire about the admission process and requirements,” he said during his address before officiating the Gawai Dayak Carnival’s education fair at Dewan Rais, Kampung Sungai Du’uh, Siburan on Friday (June 7).

Sagah added that YSISS is fully owned by the Sarawak government through Yayasan Sarawak and follows the Cambridge syllabus.

Earlier, the ministry’s deputy permanent secretary Anielia Siam shared that participation at the education fair was from various agencies, including research institutions, higher education establishments, and YSISS.

“The main purpose for our Education Fair is to provide a platform for the students, parents and teachers to learn more about education opportunities that are available locally, regionally and internationally.

“It is also aims to provide information on education assistance by the various institutions and agencies.”

She said that the main target group for this education fair is both secondary and primary school students.

“We hope that this fair provides valuable insights and inspiration to all participants, especially our young students, encouraging you all to pursue excellence in education.”

The education fair, which runs for two days, June 7 to June 8, involves 17 agencies and higher education institutions including Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), Sarawak Skills and I-CATS University College.
