KUCHING: Hotel swimming pools in Sarawak will remain closed to prevent any spread of the Covid-19, said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He said the swimming pools were subjected to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health (MOH).
“For all the hotels, if I’m not mistaken, swimming pools are still not allowed to open.
“But, if you were to ask me, on a personal note, of course I would open everything. I would love to see all things back to normal. But we have to understand that we should put safety first,” he told a press conference after the launch of the Sia Sitok Sarawak Campaign 2020 at Imperial Hotel on Monday (Aug 17).
Under the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) directive starting July 1, only pools for athletes’ training are allowed in the state.
