BINTULU: YMP Rangers clinched the title at the Putra Futsal Fest 2024, recently held at Kenyalang Futsal Centre of Excellence.
Securing second place was Langmoi, with Hambur FT and SSC Jepak tying for third place. The champions and runners-up were awarded cash prizes and medals for their achievements.
The event saw participation from 20 futsal teams, organised by students from the Second Semester Diploma Intake 2023/2024 of the QKSCourse 2104, at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB).
The programme advisor Dominic Derus said that the futsal fest aimed to offer students hands-on experience in event management and to fulfill their course requirements.
“It’s also about fostering a spirit of sportsmanship among students and the wider Bintulu community, encouraging them to continue engaging in sports for their multifaceted benefits,” he said.
He highlighted the significance of the competition in deterring today’s youth, particularly teenagers, from excessive engagement with digital devices and video games.
He hoped for increased participation in future editions to enhance the competitive spirit among teams.
