MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau has urged people from all walks of life to embrace blood donation as a personal obligation.
“To me, this is a noble way to contribute to mankind because I cannot think of a better way how else one could help others in need, especially when someone is in a life-threatening situation, other than using God’s gift – blood,” he said during a blood donation drive held in Long Lama last Saturday.
Dennis added that blood donations should be taken seriously by every person within the community who are eligible to donate.
“I am particularly impressed and thankful that my people of Telang Usan have the initiative to hold this blood donation with the ultimate aim to fill up Miri General Hospital blood bank.
“In life, we never know who will eventually need this blood you donated today, so to have so many volunteers coming forward to donate blood is so commendable,” he said.
Also present to donate their blood was a group of 11 students from Sekolah Teologi Pertama Beto’ led by the school’s principal Taja Anyie.
At the blood donation drive, 34 persons successfully donated their blood.
