ASAJAYA: The future of the state will soon be in the hands of the youths, says Tourism, Art, Culture, Youth and Sports minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah
Karim said this is a fact and it could happen very soon because based on the current statistics, the number of youths is estimated to be 1.97 million from 2.8 million people in the state.
“The present youths are the next leaders who will replace the present leaders. Therefore, the youths must dare to come forward and be ready to take the lead when the time comes,” Karim said at the launch of Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2019 at Sports Complex here yesterday.
“Youths should be the driving force that drives Sarawak to the level dreamed by the top leaders of the state,” he added.
“In this context, the youths in Asajaya should prioritise education and engage in leadership programmes,” he continued.
Datuk Abdul Karim, who is also the Asajaya assemblyman, welcomed and thanked all youth participants involved in the success of the programme.
He noted with pride that Asajaya was chosen as the district to start off Jelajah Belia Sarawak 2019 programme. – UKAS
