JULAU: A motorcyclist died on the spot after his motorcycle went out of control and crashed at KM16, Jalan Kelupu-Julau-Durin (KJD) early this morning (Oct 12).  

The accident happened around 3am when the 23-year-old victim was on his way home to Dennis Umpol Longhouse at Mile 14, Jalan KJD.

District police chief DSP Andam Sulin, who confirmed the accident, said, “Due to his severe injuries, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Investigations found that the road  at the scene was dark without any street lights and the weather was good,” he said, adding that the body was brought to the Sarikei Hospital for a post mortem.

Any member of the public who witnessed the accident are urged to contact ASP Colony Kiai at 019-7017990 or go to the Julau police headquarters to assist in the case.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Andam reminded the public to be cautious, especially along Jalan KJD which was without street lights to avoid any unwanted incident from happening.

“I would also like to warn road users not to drive under the influence of alcohol,” he said.
