MIRI: Villagers from Rumah Gansor in Sebatok, Niah here made a surprising discovery early this morning: a three-foot-long juvenile crocodile.
However, the crocodile was found dead.
The Batu Niah Fire and Rescue station chief, Rary Binjie, reported that the juvenile crocodile was found entangled in a fishing net by the riverbank around 7.30 am.
Firefighters promptly responded to the scene to safely extricate the crocodile, subsequently handing it over to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for further action.
It is believed that the crocodile wandered into the river and ensnared in the net.
“The villagers were quite scared when they discovered the trapped crocodile and immediately contacted us,” said Rary.
