KUALA LUMPUR: Three outstanding young students have been awarded scholarships worth over RM127,300 after excelling in the Next Generation Innovations international student competition, hosted by Study Group, a leading international education specialist.
The competition’s finale, held in Kuala Lumpur, featured eight talented students from schools across Southeast Asia.
Next Generation Innovations is the inaugural international student competition by Study Group, designed to provide opportunities for ambitious students to secure scholarships for higher education in the United Kingdom.
Participants were required to submit a 5,000-word project proposal detailing how they would utilise their higher education to make a significant impact on the world.
The projects covered a range of topics, including engineering, health sciences, and business.
Stephanie Jane Magbitang from the Philippines won the top prize with her project DivorceDialogue, which combines business and advocacy to benefit her local community.
She expressed her excitement, stating, 的t is a dream come true being crowned champion. I am grateful for the judges・ feedback and cannot wait to use this scholarship to further my studies at the University of Sheffield.・
She will begin her International Foundation Year at the University of Sheffield International College this September before progressing to study Law in 2025.
Crescia San Angel from the Philippines secured the second runner-up position with her project Superheroes Need Saving Too, which creatively merges modern engineering with advocacy for the protection of overseas foreign workers.
Crescia will start her International Foundation Year at Durham University International Study Centre this November, leading to a degree in International Relations in 2025.
Vanessa Shannon Suryandi from Indonesia took third place with her project Pang駸tu, which promotes wellness through an innovative approach to revitalising wellness tourism in Indonesia ethically.
Vanessa will enter her International Foundation Year at the University of Sheffield International College this September, with plans to study Business in 2025.
Study Group’s chief academic officer Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falc, expressed enthusiasm for the competition’s success and confirmed the organisation’s commitment to hosting the event annually.
