KUCHING: A 19-year-old man, who was resuscitated after drowning in a swimming pool at a condominium in BDC, passed away while receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) last night (Oct 21).
Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the young man was pronounced dead at 9.30 pm in the hospital’s red zone.
“The case is being classified as sudden death.
“Anyone with information on the incident, is urged to channel them to ASP Simon Renang at 016-8547803, Sekama police station at 082-332522 or the nearest police station,” he said.
Mohd Farhan said they were alerted at 7.59 pm to the drowning incident, which involved two victims at the condominium’s swimming pool.
Bystanders pulled both victims from the water. The first victim, 32, was conscious and safe after the rescue. However, the 19-year-old had no pulse, and paramedics performed CPR before both men were transported to SGH for further treatment.
“The first victim is now receiving treatment in the hospital’s yellow zone,” he said.
Mohd Farhan reminded the public to exercise caution and follow safety measures when engaging in water activities, especially in swimming pools.
